Candidates for NATO standardisation in the Cold War

Anyone promising ‘total air superiority’ in a peer or near-peer conflict sounds like Göring boasting:

No enemy bomber can reach the Ruhr. If one reaches the Ruhr, my name is not Göring. You may call me Meyer.“
While I agree 100%, the Chair Farce was making the promises.

For whatever reason, the Army has never encouraged the Generals to learn how to play politics like the USAF and USN have.

My guess would be that Political Army Generals set off more alarm bells than Political Air Force Generals and Political Admirals. It’s harder to take over a country with just the Air Force or just the Navy than it is with an Army.
