Boeing QSP studies (military and civil)

Boeing QSP studies were divided in 'mission-derived' and 'shape-derived' (in terms od aerodynamic configuration to supress sonic boom) vehicles, some of second group were patented and represented really weird beasts. Note how 'strike' mission-derived configuration resembles Northrop Grumman X-47C JUCAS and thier possible (while being nearsonic) NGLRS congiguration. Year is 2003.

Can't read the entire thing but are some of those things derivations of Busemann's sonic boomless biplane or is it just a coincidence?

Boeing calls it 'an unique Arch(ed) Wing'. Seems that they stated it as their propertiary design.
If you'l check Boeing patent http://tinyurl.com/2hcc6g, you will see that idea is not dead and used in quite a hell interesting vehicles, I assume that some has relationship to FALCON (Force Application and Launch from CONUS) Phase I research, but can be wrong. At least, talks are about global reach, hypersonic bus vehicles spreading submunitions and able to land at aircraft carriers after completing the mission.

It's not Reno/Tracy - it's much more horrible than that. The middle wing rotates to lie flat along the top of the fuselage, and there is some weird energy-addition stuff going on with the mid-body exhaust.

I suspect that the DARPA people thought that it was another attempt by Boeing (cf their brilliantly executed whacking of the HSCT project) to infiltrate and destroy any supersonic transport project.
