Boeing F-47 NGAD future name guessing

And you truly believe he didn't just say that on Twitter to cozy up to Trump?

I remain unconvinced.
He's the Chief of Staff of the Air Force. If he says it, its true.

This topic is probably nearing its end, we need to wait and see if anyone was right.

Spectre is still in use by the AC-130s, though a Phantom III could work.
I forgot about the AC-130s using the name Spectre. Could Eagle II work? Heck, even something Owl related could be fitting. F-47 Grey Owl.

The project office patch suggests a name like "Thunderbird," "Firebird," or "Phoenix"
I'd eliminate Firebird as it's associated with Slavic folklore (and a famous composition by Stravinsky). Thunderbird is much more American (sorry, Gerry) but the graphic style suggests a flaming Phoenix.

As a caveat, I'll note that it's probably only an internal nickname at this point, just as the YF-23 was nicknamed Black Widow II.

Also, Benjamin Franklin proposed that the turkey should be America's national bird...

I believe when the American public hears "firebird" they'll think about a Pontiac, rather than obscure slavic folklore (most Americans couldn't point at more than 3 Slavic countries on a map).

Nice suggestions y’all, but as a token of goodwill to his Russian overlords it’s going to be something along the lines of ‘Combat Zone Airborne Raider’ or ‘Crown of Zenith Absolute Ruler’:

The F-47 CZAR.

(Sort of double post as I misspelled czar in an earlier post).

Early F-117 patches had Dragons in it. Other early nicknames for the F-117 were the Black Widow, and Wobbin Goblin. This Phoenix could be a temporary name for the F-47, not it's real name, respectfully.
