A340 is much newer, and is a wide-body, which allows it to carry more passengers.

Does anyone have any indications of what the C-135 variant here would have looked like? I've seen concepts on this forum for an air defense version of the C-141, but I imagine a C-135/707 converted to interceptor would look much different.
