IMO, what the A-10 needs is 15-20km range missiles. That happen to be supersonic in flight, like Hellfires are.

That would be Brimstone. USAF could have chosen to buy it at any point in the last 2 decades.

It was functional kit for non-peer operations. My money is on Red Wolf missiles (or others) falling out the back, or off the wing of KC-130's next.

Agreed. All it takes is a MANPADS or two on a fishing boat and there goes your only tanking asset.
Red Wolf is certainly a good idea.

It probably willl not be limited to C-130s; I could see Ch-53K carrying dozens of those. MV-22 might be a candidate as well since it has some unique range advantages for a vertical platform.
