Hi!

In the book "The british aircraft specification file" at pg 46, there is an artist impression of the Armstrong Whitworth A.W. 21, a monoplane fighter designed for the specification F.7/30. Unfortunatly I don't have a scanner, so I can't post the picture, sorry. I'd like to know more about this aricraft and I ask if there are anyone who have more information or drawings about the A.W. 21.

Armstrong Whitworth AW.21 :-

This aircraft, along with the AW.35 Scimitar, was submitted to specification F.7/30,
for a 'Day/Night Interceptor'.

Span (hyena version) 37' 6" (11.43m)

Length ( " " ) 31' 5" (9.58m)


Engine- Armstrong-Siddeley Hyena 15 cylinder radial rated at 505hp
OR Armstrong-Siddeley Panther III rated at 500hp.

Armament- 4 Vickers guns, two each in the forward fuselage and wings.

Thank you robunos for the very interesting pictures and for the technical data. It's a shame that the plane has not been further developed: compared to the Scimitar seemed much better.
