There have been a couple of recent papers describing something with a relation to high mach number flight and some old photos of what appears to be an aircraft with extremely swept back wings. Now It's obvious one shouldn't jump to conclusions and connect these loose tid bits of information together but it is interesting that an engine has shown up that would be ideal for flight in the mach 3+ range.
