As today is 12/12/12 I thought it fitting to post the BAe P.1212-12A.

It has variable incidence outer wing panels, just like the MDC project in the forum banner.

The P.1212-12A is one of many brief P.1212 variants that led into the P.1216.

Thanks for that !
Could have been employed to good advantage for a very short landing,
maybe after a failure of the nozzle swivel mechanism ! ;)

Perhaps, although the crowded boom weapon stations indicate why it was not attractive overall - loss of wingip missile stations, outer wing fuel capacity etc.

I assume the acoustic and thermal conditions near the nozzle were too bad to think about shoulder stations on the inlet. Or maybe it's just too short for Sidewinder to fit there?

For the 1212 no detail work was done, but on the 1216 the noise and heat near the inlet were OK, although behind the nose wheel leg the 'fuselage' was non-load bearing fairings, plus missile exhaust plume in the inlet would not be fun in combat.

Of course! As if gun gas ingestion wasn't bad enough. Thanks.
