Between 1998 and their retirement, a flight of these aircraft came training at Cazaux air base (BA-120) and also at the nearby Bordeaux Mérignac BA-106. One of them ended as a museum piece there. Since 2013 they have been replaced by M-346.

When the Argentinian Navy acquired their A-4Qs, they came along with a certain number of AIM-9Bs. They were frequently seen while on cruise aboard the "25 de Mayo".

Unfortunately for the ARA pilots, the FAA too had AIM-9s, except the "L" instead of the "B" - and that made a pretty big difference.

Note that there were plans to put Phantom radars and Sparrows into a CL-84, again for the same mission.
