Meanwhile Italy seemingly denied US aircraft to land

Italy denied U.S. military aircraft permission to use an airbase on its southern island of Sicily as part of its ongoing war with Iran, according to Italian media.

Meanwhile the US is following the steps of Russia's early perfomance and doubles down, sending another E-3 to the very same base where two have previously been destroyed and other aircraft have been hit.

Either this is just meant to one up the 2022-Russian leadership in causing preventable losses, or it's a genius move to ensure all E-3s get destroyed and have to the replaced 1:1 by E-7s. I'll let anyone decide for themselves.

Currently, a summary.
So far, over the past month, manned aircraft losses include:
3 F-15Es (suspected friendly fire)
1 F-15E crashed over Iraq (the U.S. denies combat loss)
1 KC-135, during refueling, maneuvered to avoid Iraqi militia-launched air defense missiles and collided with another KC-135, resulting in one destroyed and one damaged
5 KC-135s were destroyed at the airport by Iranian missiles
1 AH-64 Apache was destroyed in a crash during pursuit of a 'small motorcycle' due to an explosion
1 UH-60 was destroyed at the airport by Iraqi FPV
1 Qatari AW139 helicopter crashed during pursuit of a small motorcycle; all on board, including a Turkish military officer, were killed
1 F-35 was heavily damaged by an Iranian air defense missile, pilot injured by shrapnel, aircraft written off
3 Kuwaiti and 2 Italian Eurofighter Typhoon jets were destroyed at the airport by Iranian missiles
1 F-18EF was hit by an Iranian man-portable missile, but overall not seriously damaged
4 KC-135 tankers were again destroyed by Iran, another 3 damaged
1 P-8 anti-submarine aircraft was hit and destroyed by an Iranian missile
1 E-3 Sentry AWACS was destroyed (confirmed)
2 EC-130H electronic warfare aircraft, some C-17 transport planes, F-16 fighter jets damaged (to be confirmed)

The losses in manned aircraft alone surpass Russia's losses in the first month of the Russia-Ukraine war, not counting over 30 long-endurance UAV losses.
Oh, I meant the Iranian 'Shahed-136' drone, not the motorcycle.
A majority of these are simply untrue. Shouldn’t claims like this be held to a certain standard?

IAF:
"Special footage from the missiles' perspective: More than 230 strikes were carried out against military targets in the last 24 hours in Iran"

In one of the videos, 2 IRGC personnel can be seen jumping off a building.
The caption however says "Attack on an air defense system". We can also see a ZU-23 AA system on the roof, despite what the Twitter user says.

OK easy solution back to news only. The majority of posts should only include links with no commentary needed.

If a link isn’t clear I think we all know how to write a fact based headline that quickly and efficiently describes the post.

“Iranian targets hit with bunker busters” or “KC-135s damaged in strikes”

This shouldn’t be complicated
Voilà. OPERATIONAL news only, no "Mr Orange Pres said this or that", that's no news, that's politics.

Meanwhile Italy seemingly denied US aircraft to land

Italy has denied the United States the use of the Sigonella air base for an operation directed to the Middle East. The Defense General Staff would have been informed by the Air Force that some American aircraft had planned a stopover in the structure without having requested any prior authorization or consulted the Italian military authorities. Verified that these were not normal logistical flights covered by bilateral agreements, the Chief of Staff Luciano Portolano would have informed the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto and, on his mandate, communicated to the American command the landing ban for lack of authorization and prior consultation.

Iran has said the Strait of Hormuz will only reopen to those who comply with its new laws.

Ebrahim Azizi, the head of the Iranian parliament’s national security committee, also said the passage, a key trading route for international oil exports, would not be reopened for American vessels.

The committee approved proposals to toll ships passing through the strait on Monday, according to Iran’s state media. Iran is currently charging select vessels around £1.5 million to transit the strait.

In a post on X, Azizi said: “Trump has finally achieved his dream of ‘regime change’ – but in the region’s maritime regime! The Strait of Hormuz will certainly reopen, but not for you; it will be open for those who comply with the new laws of Iran. The 47 years of hospitality are over forever.”

Donald Trump told the UK and other allies suffering from rising oil prices to “go get your own oil” and to “just TAKE” the conduit through a military operation in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday.

The US president also said the war could end within “two weeks, maybe three”, stating that the war’s only goal was to stop Iran from attaining nuclear weapons.

He is set to deliver an “address to the nation” at 9pm (EST) on Wednesday (2am BST on Thursday) to update on the war’s progress, in which he could lay out plans for an off-ramp from the conflict.

‘Months ahead may not be easy,’ warns Australian PM

Australia’s prime minister has warned that the “months ahead may not be easy” owing to pressure on oil prices from the Iran war.
Anthony Albanese urged the public not to take “more fuel than you need”, and suggested that commuters should switch to public transport if they can, as “that builds our reserves”.
In a video address broadcast to the nation, he said: “The months ahead may not be easy. I want to be up front about that.
“No government can promise to eliminate the pressures that this war is causing. I can promise we will do everything we can to protect Australia from the worst of it.
“These are uncertain times, but I’m absolutely certain of this: we will deal with these global challenges, the Australian way, working together and looking after each other as we always have.”

Iranian fortress at the centre of the battle for Hormuz

(Daily Telegraph, registration or subscription may be required)

An arrow-shaped island of salt caves, mangrove forests and secret missile bunkers could become the most pivotal battlefield in the war against Iran.

Qeshm Island, the largest in the Gulf, dominates the narrowest part of the Strait of Hormuz – the chokepoint Tehran is using to hold the global economy hostage.

The 84-mile-long island, past which a fifth of the world’s oil usually floats, hosts a warren of military installations, but the extent of the threat that lurks beneath its rocky terrain is unknown.

If Donald Trump were to order a ground assault to help reopen the vital oil artery, Qeshm would be the most likely target, analysts and military experts told The Telegraph.

From the Daily Telegraph livestream:
The United Arab Emirates is preparing to join a US military operation to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Diplomats in Abu Dhabi said they were exploring how Emirati forces could play a role in the campaign to secure the waterway, which normally accounts for around a fifth of the world’s oil trade.

Officials confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that the country is lobbying for a United Nations Security Council resolution to authorise its military involvement in the conflict.

This move would make the UAE the first Gulf nation to join the war, following frequent Iranian missile and drone attacks in the region.

The intervention could include clearing mines from the strait and supporting any US occupation of islands in and around the strategic waterway.

It comes after Donald Trump told the UK and other allies to “go get your own oil” and to take control of the crucial conduit in a Truth Social post on Tuesday.

The US president told the Telegraph on Wednesday that he was considering pulling out of Nato after the military alliance failed to join his war on Iran.

He is set to deliver an “address to the nation” at 9pm (EST) on Wednesday (2am BST on Thursday) to update on the war’s progress.
