“Finders keepers” doesn’t apply to space junk that may land in your Florida yard

None of the people quoted seem to have considered whether salvage and the law of the sea might take precedence - particularly relevant to the story about the fisherman and the Space-X chutes. It would be very interesting to see just how tightly salvage law is written and whether it explicitly states a ship is something that sails in water only.
 
Seeing that nobody can claim space, maritime law should apply. Salvage in an international region in space also. Finders keepers?
