The eternal problem with conformal weapons is that it potentially makes updating the weapon fit difficult, e.g. the Tornado ADV's forward missile recesses were too short for some versions of Sparrow with a beefed-up motor for longer range, while the F-106 was stuck with the Falcon for all its ~30 years of service because the missile system was so integral with the airframe.
