DOD seeks to shift billions from delayed procurement to cover stronger-than-expected military end strength

The Defense Department is asking Congress to approve a sweeping midyear omnibus reprogramming that would shift billions of dollars away from procurement and modernization programs -- especially shipbuilding and aircraft -- to cover unexpectedly high personnel costs driven by stronger recruiting, lower attrition and increased military training activity

European coalition pledges $50 billion to modernize deep precision strike capabilities

https://breakingdefense.com/2026/07...modernize-deep-precision-strike-capabilities/
Separately, the UK is working with Germany on the Deep Precision Strike program to deliver stealth and hypersonic weapons capable of striking targets at a range of over 2,000km, with entry to service slated for the 2030s. Though primarily focused on ground-launched capabilities, the effort will “explore” air and naval designs.
As Breaking Defense reported on Tuesday, the UK is also banding together with Australia and the US on the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) program, setting the British Army on course to field a supersonic ballistic asset capable of striking targets out to a range of 500km.

meanwhile erdogan is helping NATO with cheaper produced product copies : )

and what they did with the gift

My train of thought:
- Why not a Turkish firearm like canik for instance?
- Maybe they wanted to please Trump by buying a US product.
- Are you serious? Gifting everyone a Turkish copy of a Colt Python to show the potential of their country? ludicrous
In all fairness, this is something that came in a display case, was meant to stay in a display case and will probably be exhibited inside another display case if it is ever seen again. In United States, gifts like these are displayed at presidential libraries, which is the entire point. It seems very unlikely that any world leader will ever open up the presentation case. However, decades from now young school boys will briefly look at this gun on exhibit at an otherwise boring museum. “That sure was a cool gift from the president of Türkiye,” a young boy will remark before his teacher gives him a dirty look. Because the purpose of museums is to bore young schools boys on class trips.

I think the symbolic intent way to demonstrate Turkey’s strong defense despite rather modest defense spending as a percentage of GDP. Turkey gets a lot for its money in terms of its military. I suppose the big shiny chrome revolver can be said to symbolize this. When you think about it, with all of the cloned naval guns and analogous missile systems, this bargain priced copy of a vintage revolver is an appropriate metaphor.

Greece approves over $3.4B in air defenses for Achilles’ Shield

The system would reportedly rely heavily on Israeli tech as Athens, like other world capitals, rushes build a national "shield" against aerial threats.
https://breakingdefense.com/2026/07/greece-approves-over-3-4b-in-air-defenses-for-achilles-shield/
Greece is one of several nations racing to develop a sprawling air defense “shield,” from America’s Golden Dome to Turkey’s Steel Dome, meant to defend against growing threats from missiles, rockets and, especially, one-way drones. Most designs are generally based on Israel’s vaunted air defense system sometimes referred to as Iron Dome. (The Iron Dome platform is actually the lowest tier in a three-tiered air defense system, with the Arrow and David’s Sling making up the top and middle tiers, respectively.)
Elsewhere in his remarks, Dendias said the government had approved the purchase of 10 V-Bat surveillance drones, made by US firm Shield AI, to complement the four the Greek armed forces already have. Greece will also purchase an Israeli-made Heron UAV.

Oh go look him up. It's not like there isn’t Wikipedia and a bunch of sites on Classical mythic figures.
