2026 Israeli–United States strikes on Iran and elsewhere in region - News and Discussion

Iran struck a water desalination and power plant in Kuwait hours after hitting an oil refinery.

Tehran launched strikes on the Gulf state’s energy infrastructure after the US attacked Iranian civilian infrastructure on Friday.

Iran is just begging to not only have its energy infrastructure (Specifically power-plants) attacked and destroyed in retaliation it clearly doesn't seem to understand its' water infrastructure will be attacked and destroyed if it keeps this up, Iran is in a years long severe (Bordering on acute) drought crisis and it has 90 million people.

Iran is responding to the threat of a ground operation on its soil by stepping up defenses around its biggest oil port, while threatening to attack a wider array of targets around the Gulf and launching a mass recruitment drive reminiscent of its 1980s war with Iraq.

There is also the possibility that the images derive from an earlier F-15E loss, which we will come to later.
We should also consider that the F-15E could have come down for multiple reasons other than being shot down by air defenses, as Iran claims. Potentially, the jet could have been hit and lost its tail and even part of its wing, before returning to safe airspace. That might sound incredible, but F-15s have done this before.

Well, the photo of the ejection seat I just posted seconds after this seems to completely prove untrue that theory.

The F-15 crash site seems to confirm the fact that the americans bombed it as some iranian sources claim, hence the relatively few identifiable debris. Plus, if the claim is that it's one lost in Kuwait almost a month ago, praytell how did the iranians got to Kuwait and took pics of the debris?

As is the case with any rapidly developing story - wait for more information to come out before making (possibly) premature conclusions.

Looks like the Eagle was brought down, CSAR operation was underway, whether the pilots survived and were rescued or possibly captured remains to be seen.

There is no reporting of the actual alleged downing of this F-15E, why? Where is the wreckage? We've only seen fragments from an USAF or USN aircraft but it does not signify an actual shoot down.

Key Iranian Bridge Severed By Airstrikes (Updated)

A major bridge near Tehran was struck today by what Iran has said were U.S.-Israeli strikes. The B1 bridge in Alborz province, one of the tallest in the Middle East, was hit in two waves of attacks, separated by around an hour, Iranian state TV reported. The bridge provides a critical link between Tehran and Karaj.

But of course, that CSAR formation and supporting A-10, F-35, UAVs etc. must be going in Iran for a sightseeing trip.

All it takes is a few MANPADS or DShKs instead of those cameras and those CSAR birds would be a pile of wrecks now.

This operation will be dangerous. A hard throwback to Nam.
True but the person firing it would be committing suicide, assuming they even get that far. It's not MW3, they can't just hide inside an indestructible building afterwards.

That or pilot mini-figs are quite collectible--OW!

My grandpa shot at American LZs and lived. None gives a faffer. And those escort Blackhawks have pop guns for what's worth. At least in Nam there's AGLs and a Cobra if you're rich.

This is the BBC reporting on the matter of the shot down F-15.

Iranian media claims US is searching for downed pilot in Iranian territorypublished at 14:14

Iran's Tasnim news agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, is claiming the US is searching for one of its pilots after a jet was reportedly downed over Iran.

On Thursday morning, US Central Command (Centcom) denied IRGC reports that a fighter jet pilot had been shot down over Qeshm Island, in the Strait of Hormuz.

It is not clear if this statement refers to the most recent Iranian reports and the BBC has contacted Centcom for further detail.

Tasnim reports that US helicopters, planes and reconnaissance drones are involved in the search.

An Iranian state TV newsreader for a local channel has reported that rewards will be given to anyone who captures the pilot alive.

The BBC has not verified the claims and we're working to gather more information.

The F-15 wreckage looks like it's been out in the desert for a very long time. Plants growing around the charred impact crater show no sign of having been burned.
