Tartar in Mk 11 and 13, on the Charles F Adams class DDG, was located immediately to the rear of the aft Mk-42 5" as well as above the shaft lines. I believe the Sea Dart magazine was based on the Tartar Mk-11 arrangement.Me too; and the vibrations from 6-inch guns firing isn't exactly what I would like near vacuum-tube missiles.
A better position would - theoretically - be a superfiring launcher between rear funnel and hangar (of course it would require rear radar mast relocation - likely in front of the funnel). Problem is, I have no data about how heavy Sea Dart launcher was, so I can't tell how much it would affect the ship stability.
P.S. There is one other possible solution - broadside launchers , one at either side, feeding from the same cross-deck magazine - but while it more or less solve the upper weight problem, it would be costly and complicated solution.
An interesting arrangement for a Tiger could be the replacement of each twin 3" with a 16 round Mk-22 Tartar. If I recall correctly, the later RN GWS missile cruiser designs with 4 twin 3" mounts were designed to replace two of them with Tartar when it became available.
