He normally does videos on palaeontology but every now and again he does video deconstructing various cryptids. But he says they never do as well as his normal videos, so he’s stopped doing them very often. I’m guessing people searching for such topics don’t like seeing them being debunked.

Reinhold Messner, who climb every eight-thousanders Mountain,
doing so without supplementary oxygen

He sah also the Yeti in Tibet, what made allot Media Hype in the time.
Until Messner explained that in fact, its a bear that walk on back legs occasionally
Media went suddenly silence about matter and went on next Hype...

IMHO? Not without some REALLY bad carpet inhalation......

There is no rule in zoology that prevents the existence of giant apes

https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigantopithecus_blacki

The main objection would be the problem of food, since most large apes are vegetarians and Tibet does not abound in this type of food, at least in the amount necessary to sustain a self-sufficient population.

The alternative is a giant carnivore, but no predatory ape is known to exist other than at least omnivorous.

Cold is not a problem as demonstrated by the Arctic Japanese macaques and if an isolated group of chimpanzees had become carnivores due to environmental pressure, it is possible that with enough time they would have increased their size to hunt larger prey.

There is no known rule that prevents the existence of Yeti.

We could even make one with the level of current bioengineering.

But if the Wampa escapes from the lab, Luke Skywalker will need to be called.

it's in The Bar section
so i see no problem in that topic

(be calm Michel, you want to rampage over UFO, ancient Aliens, dismantle the mythos,
but this is the Secret Project forum, so behave and hold it back... ;) )
Calm down Michael, in this forum Yeti will only be accepted if you recognize that it is a mutation created by climate change.:)

Yeti is a secret project in genetic engineering by the Leprechauns who figured they would be at much less risk of being discovered as the agents behind it if they did the work in the Himalayas instead of at home in someplace like Ballymacarbry.

Sloth bears may be the origin of the yeti myth. Those and Sun bears especially can stand up and resemble men wearing suits. There's your Bigfoot.

Understandable seeing that bears are plantigrade...one of few mammals that have feet built similar to ours...melt and re-freeze cycles can distort actual animal attacks.

Sloth bears are up there with chimps in terms of attacks, so anyone clambering about to prove/debunk yeti legends needs to think twice-low oxygen at altitude can play tricks as well.

One of the most frightening movies I ever saw was 1979's PROPHECY.

While methylmercury can't do what was seen in the movie, there could easily be experimental teratogenic/mutagenic compounds being developed that might result in something similar.

I think I'd rather meet a misplaced albino silverback that might last--what?--one or two nights on the slopes?

Then too...

Most people imagine our early primate ancestors swinging through lush tropical forests. But new research shows that they were braving the cold.

The evidence for the Yeti is better than the evidence for…

- “Navy long range strike aircraft”
- “SR-72”
- “TR-3A”
- “F-117 companion”

And this video is better than anything from Sandboxx or Creepy Get In My Van Guy, regardless of the subject matter.

Scientifically *PROVE* it.

A lack of oxygen at high altitude can do funny things to a (hu)man...

Why? It’s in the bar.
You're right, I agree.

The point is about the evolution of the forum. The original idea was a meeting point for research on objective facts, history, knowledge, etc. Later, sections for informal, speculative or what if opened. And sometimes seems this sections are taking the center stage.

My thoughts are about how does introducing topics so far removed from the forum's main focus affect this? What's the real purpose of the bar? It could be a forum by itself because it has no visible connection with "secret projects"

Debating about cryptozoology, wouldn't it be more logical to find a dedicated forum?

Just my personal vision.

@Justo

I grow up in the times of Professor Fernando Jiménez del Oso :)

When I was studying biological sciences, all the attractive girls, including Ana Obregón, frequented the cafeteria of the medical school with the strategic objective of marrying a doctor from a wealthy family. The smartest ones discarded cardiologists and managed to marry plastic surgeons and live in Miami.;)

The bar is an indispensable institution in human relationships, a home away from home, a meeting point of races and cultures, well no, that was from Babylon 5, but no one continues to talk about differential calculation when in the bar, no one is popular at least.

That makes sense. People interested in cryptids often prefer content that entertains the mystery, so debunking videos tend to get fewer views. This likely explains why he doesn’t make them as often.

https://nevalalee.wordpress.com/2016/06/25/the-devil-and-georges-cuvier/

They tell a story about [paleontologist Georges] Cuvier to illustrate his confidence in [the] Law of Correlation. It seems that one of his students, who desired to give the Maître a scare, disguised himself as the devil, with the usual horns and hoofs and barb-tipped tail. He penetrated at midnight to Cuvier’s room and, standing by his bedside, roused him from sleep with the announcement, “Cuvier, Cuvier, wake up! I am the Devil and am come to eat you up.” The scientist gazed at him sleepily, looked him over for a moment, and replied, “Hmm—horns—hoofs—you’re graminivorous. You can’t do it.” Whereupon he turned over and went to sleep again and the student retired discomfited.
