The focus of all the media this week will be on Alaska and Gaza. Tomorrow the deadline given by the US administration for the activation of tariffs against Chinese products expires. A strange coincidence or a prefabricated accident?
Anything is possible.Tomorrow the deadline given by the US administration for the activation of tariffs against Chinese products expires. A strange coincidence or a prefabricated accident?
By whom?prefabricated

That'll buff right out...
Call me daft if you like but, it looks as though the prc coast guard ship was prevented from ramming the Phillipines coast guard ship deliberately.
In other words the PRC navy ship saved the Phillipines coast guard ship.
internecine conflict?
Boy is that skipper/watch officer for the hop.
There's a few crew in the bow of the cutter, including at least one guy leaning over the rail holding a bumper, seconds before the collision. If he's alive, he needs a new pair of pants.Hope no one was injured. This might push the PLAN to accelerate building some specialized coast guard vessels — though the timing's unfortunate, coming just half a month before Victory Day parades.

I'm pretty sure the cutter was aiming to overtake the Philippine ship so that they could take it with the firehouse they have running over the port side.
Not quite sure what the destroyer was trying to do. Possibly to pass ahead and force the PN vessel to slow down and facilitate the overtake by the cutter?
I think the captain of the Philippines' vessel may have baited them in by tooling around at low speed...that and/or they got lucky.Call me daft if you like but, it looks as though the prc coast guard ship was prevented from ramming the Phillipines coast guard ship deliberately.
I do love stories of Cold War bumper boats. One does wonder.
Thing brings to mind a different circumstance my USN Dad brought about during the Cold War in either the Atlantic or Mediterranean,
their DD, either a Sumner or Gearing class FRAM, had been sent out by the carrier formation to recon something, while they were gone a Soviet ship which had been harrassing the formation took Dad's ship's place in the formation and would not leave.
Upon the return of Dad's ship, things got to the point where Dad ordered flank speed, "Steer at their bridge", yes, you read that right and I said that right, "Steer AT their bridge".
Thing is, with being the expert ship handler he got awards for being, he knew the laws of physics and relative vectors meant there would be no collision, his ship would simply fall in right astern of the bothersome Soviet ship.
But,
the psychological effect of a WW2 leftovers DD with its huge flank speed bow wave, belching oil fired smoke, and its shallow screws throwing up a froth halfway to being a rooster tail, coming right AT the Soviet's bridge, was enough to get the Soviets to skedaddle, they had had their fill of crazy capitalist Yankees for the day.
Job well done.
Depends on how many of the crew the collisions killed. After all those accidental collisions involving USN warships Chinese finally decided to try it themselves and see, why exactly Americans love to do it so much?)
There were, I think, 3 Chinese guards on the corvette that got its nose caved in. Hopefully they survived and their bodies intact.Depends on how many of the crew the collisions killed.
Hope that no one.Depends on how many of the crew the collisions killed.
Because they've seen a lot of movies about the mob: "that guy is very sick but doesn't know it, make it look like an accident."After all those accidental collisions involving USN warships Chinese finally decided to try it themselves and see, why exactly Americans love to do it so much?)
Yes, I'd hope so, too.Hope that no one.
Yes, I'd hope so, too.
But the US collisions killed 7 and 10, respectively.
