A recent FOIA request showed that Boeing did indeed have space warping tech.

Sadly, Jack Welch sat on it except to show off his idea of a luxury sedan:

It is actually even smaller on the inside….
Believe it or Not!

Drongo (Aust.): meaning (A fool, an idiot, a stupid fellow)

Example...

A young Sydney driver is facing a string of charges after he was allegedly caught impersonating a foreign police officer in the city's west, and subsequently found to be in possession of multiple firearms.

NSW Police Highway Patrol were conducting routine inspections on Everton Road in Strathfield on Friday, when they noticed a black sedan allegedly bearing Chinese police insignia — or at least, an attempt at it. Images show the word "POILCE" emblazoned across the bonnet, alongside a set of Chinese characters, raising eyebrows, as well as a few spelling concerns.

Aussies warned over $11,000 fines as P-plater allegedly found driving fake Chinese police car

Later: Two news stories covering the incident.

I'm 100% serious about this: they should combine these two concepts: the fabric skin over wireframe from BMW's GINA and the variable wheelbase from Audi's Skysphere and make a car that can shrink to save space when parking

A man has lost his car after police spotted some idiosyncratic design choices while he was on the road in Melbourne's south-east.

Officers did a double-take when they saw the burgundy BMW on Greaves Road at Cranbourne North on the afternoon of Monday, July 21, apparently driving without a bonnet.

BMW pulled over without bonnet, driver's seat in Melbourne

Saw the GINA many years ago at a concept-car show; very impressive! Unfortunately with a car like that you would always get a-holes to slash the fabric skin while you're shopping, maybe even just for the fun of it. Unless you park in a secure box it's just not doable.

But unlike today's steel bodied cars, the fabric would resist damage from runaway shopping carts.

With steer by wire and wheel hub motors, there is no need for any mechanical connections to the front wheels. The wheels and the front lights could be put on a rigid frame that would either retract, with the wheels turning 90 degrees, or fold underneath the car. And then the wireframe would collapse just like one of those pop up tents. That would mean the car would require much less space for parking.

And as this old popular science illustrates, something similar could be done for pickup trucks.

1992 GM Ultralite Concept. Despite being a 4 passenger family sedan, it weighed only 1400 pounds thanks to its carbon fiber body. That light weight meant that the 110 hp 2 stroke 3 cylinder engine could propel the car to 60 in less than 8 seconds and could average 100 mpg at steady highway speeds. The car's stiffness meant they could eliminate the B-pillar and have gullwing doors. Also, the engine, located at the back, could be easily removed for servicing or if the owner wanted a different engine for whatever reason.
