Originally acquired by Australia under Project Land 121 Phase 4 – Protected Mobility Vehicle (Light) or PMV-L, the Thales Hawkei is/was a competitor to the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) Program. Over 1000 have been ordered by the Australian Army and it is in consideration by others such as Poland and Japan.

Based around a Hawkei Command cabin and 'spare parts from both Hawkei and Bushmaster where possible', a dedicated team of rev heads put together a supercharged 584 ci / ~9.5L burn out beast!

Yes, they've been going on for a while now, but previously the only pics of them were from a couple hundred meters away in other moving vehicles. These are the first clear pics and the Hawkei appears to be a unique modification to Japan with the Howa smoke launchers above the front windows and the gun shield.
