Those who fear the future try to kill him, but the opposite usually happens, it would be ironic that some young man/woman who was destined to create a new drug to prolong life was discouraged after seeing Blade Runner.
Richard N is right to describe as sinister the mentality of weapons designers, in my case I try to focus my work on the technological advances produced by military research, without that funding technology would not have advanced so much in the twentieth century.
