Boeing-Vertol Model 179 YUH-61A UTTAS / Model 237 LAMPS contender

The rotor mast would no doubt been extended, as was that of the H-60.
Undoubtedly my friend, but I was trying to highlight the original fraught design of the 'short main rotor mast' of the original RfP, which if it had not of been relaxed...........

I never noticed the large vertical gap between the top of the mast and the hemispherical fairing...is there an explanation for that?

I have wondered at this as well.

Scanning now. Unfortunately not much graphics

Was the YUH-61 designed to carry weapons like the UH-60 ended up doing?
The original requirement was only to carry crew served weapons for suppressive fires while operating in contested landing areas. That said had the US Army elected to fly UH-61 vice UH-60 I suspect the Boeing aircraft would have sprouted a similar means to carry other weapons.

I recently purchased the second production built YUH61 and looking for images of it in flight test service. Anyone have images they could share.

Here is an image of the YUH61 (Cn. 002) as it sits today (Jan 2023) in Scroggins Aviation's yard in California. I am looking for the IPB(IPC) parts manual and another other copy or original manuals for the YUH61 helicopters.
Please help. Doug

@hel - I would recommend as a possible start, contact the Army Aviation Museum at Fort Rucker in Alabama. They have a large photography collection.

Anyone in the group happen to know what the airframe Data Plate looks like on the YUH-61?
I own ship 2 and looking to remake it if I can't get my hands on the original one.

You might be able to get the Army Aviation Museum to send you a photo of the data plate on YUH-61. If they don't respond, PM me and I will see if I can assist.

Here is the patch for the program... There is your crew! I am in contact with the 4th man standing in this photo.

Good evening, yea I'm able to get you into contact with one of the original Crew Cheifs for these YUH-61A's. He is a Vietnam Veteran who has been extremely curious as to exactly what happened to these (his) old birds. I've managed to find all 3 for him, haven't told him yet; he is currently out on a camping trip with no contact available. I'm sure he would be interested in assisting with whatever he could!

That's fantastic Bradley Gray, it would be intriguing to get his perspective of the YUH-61!

I have linked up with the director of the US Army Aviation Museum in Ft. Novosel, AL. I will be surprising the Vietnam Veteran with this trip; allow him to turn in these bits of Army Aviation History as well as give an oral recording of the YUH-61A Government Competitive Test program. We are more than certain his ACFT, tail-number 73-21656, is sitting in their possession. This will more than likely be his last getting to see his old airframe before the inevitable does occur; Agent Orange stikes again. It's been roughly 50 years since he has seen it, he has wondered what happened to them ever since. Now those questions can be laid to rest!
