It almost has a P-39 look to it - almost has though someone has used parts to create a jet version?

Regards,

Greg

Just received the info via a member at the German FF that it was a mock-up for a Chinese film and it was built to represent an US agressor ... ;)

Ambrosini Sagittario 1 ? Where was the picture taken?

Last edited:

Rough translation of the above Czech:

"I think it's not Ambrossini. The wreck has a nose chassis and a center wing without targets. Additionally, the bow can see firing channels for perhaps four machine guns. The picture I do not know where it was taken, but according to the wreck Il-10 I think it is the Eastern block."

This is at the China Air Museum at Datangshan, China. A more detailed image showed up on the Key Forum some years ago and the consensus then was that is was a mockup used for training

Bell Airacobra/Kingcobra ? just a thought looking at the nose wheel leg

Yeah, this seems to match up with the photo

I was thinking that the undercarriage (and detachable outer wing panels) more resembled the Nanchang CJ-6 ... which led me to this:

Caption: This is apparently a CJ-6 modified with a new nose and canopy, to make it look like a F-84 Thunderjet for a movie - note the faded US markings. On display in the China Aviation Museum.

I'm taking a guess, but going by the rust of the fuselage (steel armour, as opposed to aluminium), as well as the landing gear, I think the two closest might be Ilyushin Il-10's??

Regards
Pioneer

It appears to have U.S. markings, maybe a sort of F-84 mock-up used for training?

It is clearly a Nanchang CJ-6 trainer, heavily modified.
It was removed the second place as also the original canopy, probably replaced with a Yak 9 fighter's one.
The radial engine was also removed and replaced with a sort of jet intake mock-up (but without any exhaust in the tail or under the wing).

In my opinion the mystery is solved.

Anything on the first four pictures up there?f-16 a-like profile to the fuselage/wing attachment points.

I heard of a fake made for a film but not an actual copy flown.

It was just a joke to see if anyone would fall for it !
Paul and moderators, do the site policies approve posting deliberately false information in this section?
Or even in the bar outside of April 1st.
