Parasite fighter version of F-104
« on: October 23, 2006, 07:44:48 pm »
Perhaps not the strangest Starfighter derivative, but it's up there. The CL-307-1, armed with a nosefull of Sidewinder missiles. Lacked landing gear, as it was meant to be launched and recovered in flight by such craft as the CL-292-6 nuclear-powered turboprop flying DEW line/missile carrier.

And so the endless circle of life comes to an end, meaningless and grim. Why did they live, and why did they die? No reason. Two hundred million years of evolution snuffed out, for in the end Nature is horrific and teaches us nothing

Except Boeing microfighters, this is the second most interesting parasite fighter for me. Especially this horizontal tail looks, ehm... lovely  ;D

Bizarre aviation expert.

Sure thing. It will be the representative "missile carrier" in my "US Bomber projects Preview."

There's data on the picture.  Can you read it on the original, or do you have it otherwise, please?  Enlarging on a download is too blurred on my computer. I can read some headings, but no figures.

Yes, there is. Areas only, though (wing area, fuselage cross-section area, etc), no weights or dimensions.

Yep.

Dimensions will become clear to those who buy the Preview.

Scott, Giorgio Apostolo is ready to put an advertisement of the Preview (and later of the complete book) on his site and on Aerofan. The same is ok for my bookseller friends in Milan and Turin. When you are ready with the cover, please send me  a PDF and I'll distribute around. And my finger is ready on the Paypal button... ;)

When you are ready with the cover....

Problem. I ran the first test print a couple days ago, just to make sure the drawing quality was right and to run it past some of the graphic artists at work; the drawings are fine, but plain line drawings make for a pretty bland cover.
