« on: May 04, 2008, 05:14:18 am »
Hello

in old book shop i found book from 1930s and there is pic of Max Valier rocket plane type 2 --- it is Junkers G -31 with 4 valier rocket engines. So scan of this pic you have in attachment  :) (i think there are not problems with copyright so scan is in better resolution - i hope it is not problem...please tell me if it is problem :)   )

Does anybody know where ia can find more info about valier planes (as Type 3 - 11), , rockets, cars etc??

Thank you for help.

I've changed the title, as we have some other designs now, than just type 2 ...

Max Valier actually was quite succesul in designing liquid fuelled rockets, although he died in an
accident with one of his developments. Nevertheless, as a designer of aircraft, he's not undisputed.
He was a supporter of the development of rockets, but according to several sources, he was more an
author and novelist, than an aircraft designer, with a foible for some sorts of pseudo-science. And many
of his designs are more "Imaginations of the future from the past", than real aircraft designs.

Context. Great find, hesham, Thx!!!!! Only Alexandre Annanoff, founding father of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) could have authored this article in 1945. He befriended with Eugen Sänger, and had a huge knowledge of astronautics (pre)history (Rynin's encyclopaedia, pre-war correspondence, etc.). The very title of this article implies connections with Sänger's top secret report UM-3538 whose contents he helped popularize, later. FWIW, Sänger did not flee to the US or Soviet Union, but settled in Chatillon worked in / for France (Onera) where he regularly met with his friend Annanoff. Sänger's son, a good friend of mine who passed away :'(, showed me once where they lived in France.
