Why did missiles, guns, and bombs, all get dumped into the same section? What a mess.

IIRC, this section was "missiles only" for quite a while and guns were in the Army section. And for older, "dumb"
weapons, this may be ok. But the majority of posts deals with newer ones and there, the distinction sometimes
becomes difficult. Is a bomb with a guidance system and attached wings still a bom, or already a missile ? If a gun
fires guided ammo, this probably is closer to a missile, too. This of course leads to older, "unguided" weapons posted
here, too. But do you really see a benefit in establishing seperate sections for missiles, bombs and guns ?

Not to mention where to put Naval Artillery and mountings?

I could see lumping bombs and missiles together (sortof) but guns are another method altogether of delivering ordinance. (But to your point, what's the difference between a rocket and a missile these days, given many "rockets" have guidance systems? )

Essentially that missile have guidance system) Rocket is by definition unguided; rocket with any guidance became missile.

Or to be exact:

* Unpowered and unguided - bomb

* Unpowered and guided - guided bomb

* Powered but unguided - rocket

* Powered and guided - missile
