Was there a sweptwing jet Bristol Britannia proposed at one time after the Bristol Orion engine was cancelled??
Anyone know anything about such a proposal,
There was the Orion powered version, proposal with high speed wing estimated circa 500mph cruise and very long ranged which would have been very economical, a fraction of the cost of the then generation pure jets. So a jet version of the britanniawould have to be Turbofan???

If they did, they would have to design a new wing to make it worthwhile. For example, the B-60 was a swept wing jet powered B-36. Essentially, Convair pivoted the wing back 35 degrees at the wheel well, and built a false spar to continue the sweep to the fuselage. It was 100 mph slower than the B-52.

Haven't found anything about such a project, but it would have made a nice airliner ! ;)
