The Italian Ansaldo SVA series of reconnaissance-bombers were quite successful during WWI and used a Warren-truss wing bracing system much like that later used in the FIAT biplane fighters right up to the Fiat CR.42 Falco that soldiered on to the end of WWII. Does anyone know if there is a specific historical link between the Ansaldo and the FIAT biplanes? Did Celestino Rosatelli (the CR in those biplane designations) have a hand in the design of the Ansaldo or maybe was influenced by someone who did? Cheers, Matthew

Five years for an answer Matthew :D

Yes, Celestino Rosatelli was a junior designer for SVA Ansaldo. However, the Warren truss bracing of biplanes was a Rosatelli patent ... which he took with him to Fiat.
