Giving full power MGs a select fire FCG with free float barrels and accurized actions would merge the general function of a DMR and MG, something I've been clamoring about. MG gunners are also taught to utilize stable, bipod assisted firing so the handling course would be fairly trivial IMO.
 
Enabling a DMR/MGunner alongside a Precision Grenadier would make for very capable sub fire-tm. The era of the ammo bearer might need a relook though if fires are really to take priority over maneuver.
