I'm in the US. But this sort of thing, over here (hello, New York city), will eventually result in the FAA banning all forms of non-commercial r/c model aircraft operation.

We're one fire-cracker carrying 'drone' incident away from a total ban on the hobby.

It's much easier for a top-heavy government to say 'no' than to say 'yes'.

Actually, there is already a de facto ban on *commercial* r/c aircraft operation. There are a lot of valid reasosn for strapping a camera to a drone and taking photos... mapping, real estate, farm work, checking out people roofs for repair, heck, just taking pretty pictures of private property for the owners who want it. But to do so legally, the operator has to have a commercial pilots license and a truckload of insurance and whatnot.
