I had the opportunity to watch this today and even though my expectations were low (due to it being a modern piece of cinema), I still enjoyed the movie and liked what it set up for the next installment in the franchise. 6/10

Yeah the latter half of the movie was underwhelming, otherwise it would have been even better than what we got. It could've been a solid 7-7.5/10.
 
I haven't seen the film yet but plan to some time this week, anyway what is it with Jared Leto always playing creepy characters?
 
One of the many online reviews, this one suggests it's not as good as it could have been, but it's not as bad as it could have been.

I think I read that thread. Basically summed up as "Eww Jared Leto" followed by "why did it have to be Jared Leto?" and finally "because Jared Leto paid for the movie to be made". Eh, I got a cool new Nine Inch Nails album out of the affair. :cool:
 
I went and saw this in an IMAX screen on Friday. I quite enjoyed it. While not necessarily a direct sequel to Legacy it stands on its own, and lays the groundwork for an interesting fourth installment (if it happens). I've learned to ignore the Critics , they're always looking for some artistic merit or somesuch waffle. This was a good old visual and audio treat, with a storyline that holds together pretty well.
 
Let´s be honest, the movie fails on its promises. The graphics and story are gorgeous but saw limited use with a lack of commitment to fully exploit the potential of both. Something even more surprising when you see the extended cast list. Serious money was poured in for an unimpressive outcome*.

The score suffers the same treatment and lack of depth, fringing only for the entire movie; a bit annoying at some point.

I don´t understand However the polemic with Jared Leto. His play adhere well on the character, on the contrary to most of other main actors in this movie. Ok, it´s a bit too similar to his role in Blade Runner 2049 but the lack of discernment might be more the result of an insipid script.

At the end, where the public could have expected a deep dive into the genre, Tron Ares remains superficial, childish at best at a time when AI has never been more tangible to the viewer. Odd.

*an impression shared with late rebirth of Dune 2021/24 episodes

Will a hyperadvanced AI be a danger to humanity? That's nothing compared to the threat posed by military contractors.

That's the implicit conclusion of Tron: Ares, the third installment in the series that began with 1982's Tron. This threequel inverts the previous films' formula: Rather than humans trying to enter a digital world, Ares tells of an AI (Jared Leto) from inside "the Grid" finding its way into meatspace. It's a sci-fi spin on a fairy tale formula quite familiar to Disney, which made all three of the Tron films. The AI wants to be a real boy.
