In the period 1989 - 1990, in Bulgaria are deleivered 22 fighters 18 MiG-29 (izdelie 9-12A) and 4 - MiG-29UB ( izdelie 9-51 ). Bulgaria has 16 MiG-29 (now 15) - 4 trainers and 12 single setter's .
Of these, only 6 pieces are in flying condition .
On September 29, 1994 the commander of AFB "Ravnets" - Ivan Daev, crashed and died in MiG-29, Board 25. This was the only disaster to ever lost a board of the aircraft.

i think that this article illustrate in the best way the situation of the BGAF today sadly if you are not journalist from international media your voice is just like voice in the desert :-X

We are aviation journalists and just ask:
- Who is to blame for that annually the financial contracts for maintenance of MiG-29 are unsecured?
- Who is to blame that founds separated for repairs of MiG-29 provide flight on edge of the risk With many technological compromise?
- Who is to blame that the best we have training and pilots flight hours are five times less than the minimum flight hours of their Western counterparts? the flight hours provided are 30-40 hours per year , in others - starts from 150!
- Who is to blame, that for many years the grant ONLY minimum amount of fuel, far below the minimum required for the quality preparation of pilots?
- Who is to blame that our military in particular the pilots are on the lowest wages and social security in NATO and the EU? And perform their duties in conditions of greater risk?
- Whose fault is to be concluded annual contract for 3 "Spartan" for 9 million in year and this is something to pay for 10 consecutive years and for 16 pieces of MiG-29 aircraft which is most needed by NATO for 2012 are separated only 3 million total lot less than necessary!

Someone finally has to take responsibility for it all!

It is true that our country has looked like a burning MiG-29 pilots from which happily (Young people) catapulted to Europe and USA.
Old and useless retired to the cemetery and burning air plane "Bulgaria" - to nothing.
But you - deserted, the crew fire-fighter - hopefully remove the hose if it have one, and rather than extinguish, to punish those who ruined the MoD.
Because the budget and European funds is not only to steal. And one of their many properties not only to satiate the hunger of the people but to maintain some sort of national security!
