Thread to this apparently thread-less thing.
On day 2 of Operation Roaring Lion (mega cringe) in Iran, the IAF appears to be using SPICE 1000 bombs which indicates operation inside Iranian airspace, as also the IAF shifted more toward the center of Iran.
The SPICE family of guidance kits is considerably more expensive than a typical JDAM, but it adds a wing glide kit for affordable range extension, an electro-optical terminal guidance kit at its nose, and a GPS+INS guidance combo in the rear end.
It is only a guidance kit so can be fitted on both blast fragmentation warheads and penetrating warheads.
The family consists of SPICE 1000 and SPICE 2000 for large ordnance, 1,000lbs and 2,000lbs respectively.
And the SPICE 250 and SPICE 250 ER which are a smaller 250lbs class weapon in an LO package and a range extending motor on the ER variant.
