Note that US admin has banned sales of civilian 3d printed drone designs of certain payload size ,multiple designs have been pulled of websites, altough you can find most of them on some Telegam pages. , as you can imagine Ukraine lessons could come home for let say Cartel fight , that then turns into burning refineries in Texas

Some of these are genuinely capable of flying over 300km , and have been used in Ukraine.

Text of the article is not indicating anything like the super misleading title aimed at gullible dupes. For all intents and purposes both sides already have 15+km more or less continuous drone reconnaissance and strike capability in place so this is nothing essentially new except the extended coverage.

Rustem Umerov, it has two core objectives: building a continuous drone reconnaissance capability along the line of defense, and boosting support for and coordination with infantry units to create a kind buffer strip where no troops can move undetected.
 
Humm... Wouldn't dynamic geofencing driven by regulators make for it?
Anybody can understand that no private company want to be legally responsible for a faulty database leading to an injury or a law enforcement action.

How would that work?
As soon as the drone is switched-on, it connects to to a mobile network and download automatically map and authorization for any zone in range that it might potentially overfly (hence cheaper drone with shorter battery range get cheaper network access for fewer data to download at the lowest cost).

Just like a mandatory NOTAM but automated and for Drones.

Alternatively, the drone can connect via bluetooth to the owner mobile to download a daily map of the area at owner expense. If no download, no flight like they say in Jamaica...
(that way you have an automatic registration that can be crosschecked on a database)

At a time whereas the current administration is cutting funding for pretty well everything would be difficult to get that off the ground.

No private operator would stump up the $$ as would be little return.

You have Remote ID for drones in the US yet that provides only certain info.

Given that Russia has been mass-producing jammers to interfere with the Ukrainian drones WiFi links shouldn't a small and inexpensive mass-produced HOJ seeker be produced for these drones to home in on and destroy these Russian drone jammers?
 
An interesting experimental largely UAV based formation in the U.S.: ‘Multi Purpose Company’. Sniper/scouts, Javelin launchers, and quad copter scout platoons supported by a heavier platoon with longer range Ghost UAVs and Switchblade 600s, a mortar platoon with 120mm, a FiST team for higher echelon artillery support, and a man pack EW team.

I believe these CONOPS were innovated by the IDF with their "multidimensional" unit or "Ghost Unit," and what they call their "Depth Corps," although the latter may be associated more with Iran "third circle" threats. I believe this was more or less envisioned by former Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi.

Scientific Question:

What are the pros and cons of multi-rotor and single-rotor designs?

I see all sorts of UAS for all sorts of endurance and payload categories and there doesn't seem to be a cutoff where one is preferable over the other. Big and small, these designs exist for all.

To simplify this, let's assume I need UAS for the following missions:
  1. Small radar, no platform speed requirements, long endurance.
  2. 1-2 ATGMs, no platform speed requirements, short endurance.
  3. 3-4 APKWS rockets, higher platform speed preferred, long endurance.
  4. 1-2 APKWS rockets, higher platform speed preferred, short endurance.
Every mission can have its own dedicated platform. What are my considerations for picking a single rotor or multi-rotor?
