I've watched the movie (it's on YouTube) and read the book. The model bombers are notional, probably built by Disney to help the animation artists. By this time I am sure he was out at Republic Aviation, or at least not running it. His thesis was similar to Douhet's that the bomber would always get through and wars could be won through air power alone. He envisioned air battles as sort of an aerial Jutland with guns of various calibers engaging at different ranges. IIRC, and remember I read this many years ago, he envisioned interceptors along the lines of the Bell XFM=!
