I don't know that much more about this old family photo.

Looks like a version of the Canadian Vickers Vedette , see attached image from Putnam's 'Vickers' , page

This could be a Vedette II or V (both being Lynx-engined) but the lack of tail stripes may clinch it. Having no RCAF markings suggests that this is one of the four Vedette IIs or single Vedette Vs sold to the Manitoba Government Air Service in 1932 for a token dollar each.

So, CF-MAB (c/n CV71; ex-G-CYYD); CF-MAC (c/n CV76; ex-G-CYYA); CF-MAD (c/n CV90; ex-G-CYXZ); or CF-MAE (c/n CV72; ex-G-CYYC). Or, the sole Vedette V for Manitoba re-registered as CF-MAA (c/n CV149; ex-G-CYZF).

Many thanks! Yes, given the location (likely Misipawistik or somewhere nearby on Lake Winnipeg) it is almost certainly an MGAS aircraft.
