Science Fiction Cover Art

A Peter Elson mystery. The artist is not listed amongst those who supplied a cover for Bruce Stirling's 1988 novel 'Islands In the Net'. The attached image however was probably commissioned for it.

Michel took issue with my picture showing how to cede part of your country by a stroke of a Sharpie as an illustration of GIGO (one of many factors in why AI can get things dreadfully wrong). I deleted my reply for being very, very off-topic.
 
John Berkey's cover art for the 1972 reprinting of 'Star Science Fiction Nº. 2' (1953) by Frederick Pohl. It is interesting to note when Berkey created the art for this reprinting of an anthology series originally published in 1953 - 1959 he made an effort to create imagery that evoked the era the series was originally published in. The cover art by John Berkey for books three and four in the series can be found in posts #607 and #1,388.

Chris Moore's cover for Our Friends from Frolix, by Philip K Dick. SF artists often used household objects as 3d models for their art - such as bottles of cleaning fluids. I have the feeling Moore combined one of those with a picture he saw of the cosmic mircrowave background.

Hello Arjen, I still think your line of thought as laid out above is spot on - nothing to apologize for.
 
Well, I didn't really apologise :)
I just deleted my reply. Because this is the thread about science fiction covers, and there is no reason for the image, funny as I still think it is, to be included here.
