"The design had some points of interest: a sliding nose was fitted, so that the pilot had a better view on landing, yet the aircraft would be aerodynamically smoother at high speeds. Elaborate arrangements were also made for enabling the 2 crew members to eject safely."

That was one hell of a monster interceptor. Pure brute power.

Yes. ;) It's very hard for me to understand her full‐bosomed style exactly. ;D
I believe only Jozef-san can understand this aircraft by his 3D modeling.

Something of a familial resemblance to the 53 and 177, so, did SR have a problem with originality?

Saunders-Roe came out of left field to fly the 53 and have the 177 essentially ready to start building before the axe dropped, but even then they were working overtime. They were a small firm with not much time for originality, and it's quite understandable that their response to an even more demanding specification should be to scale up directly as much as they could. Evidently they decided they had to go big or go home on the powerplant, because they make the leap from one Gyron Junior and one Spectre to two full-size Gyrons and FOUR Spectres.

Of course it meant that even the people who WANTED the F.155T thought this monster was too big and expensive.

No, the only design to ignore the clarification that the IR and radar missile loads were alternatives and NOT required to be carried simultaneously.
I seem to recall the phrase "impossible to carry simultaneously", but I'm still not sure if they mean technically impossible without reservation (drastically wrong, as even the Delta Dagger could show you), or whether they considered it impossible to meet the spec aerodynamically while carrying both 2 x IR (Red Top) and 2 x SARH (Red Hebe) missiles.

I can barely put an Airfix kit together without screwing something up, and that was 20 years ago. I am told that resin kits are substantially more difficult (and don't get me started on vacform).

Someone needs to send copies of the Secret Projects books to Airfix.
