Satellite Photos Suggest Russia Sent Trained Dolphins To War In Syria
Satellite images of the Russian base at Tartus in late 2018 show marine mammal pens of the type used by the Russian Navy in its trained dolphin, seal and Beluga whale programs. It is likely that dolphins were used in Syria to counter enemy divers who might try to sabotage ships.

As far as I can establish, the RuN uses dolphins (I think bottlenose) in warmer waters, and Belugas and Seals in arctic. Currently no activities in Pacific.
