Rogerson Hiller 1100 gunship

Again in Paul Beaver's Attack Helicopters circa 1987 by Arms & Armour, came across the Rogerson Hiller 1100 and for sure it wasn't part of the LOH competition

does anyone have any more info on this?

The RH-1100 was a version of the Fairchild-Hiller FH-1100, which sure WAS part of the LOH competition as the OH-5A.

Yes, the RH-1100M was later, comparable in concept to the Bell 406 Combat Scout and 206L-3 TexasRanger.

I've always thought it was a shame that the Hiller 1100 didn't get a real chance on the helicopter market. It had great potential, and the only thing it really lacked was a military order to get it going. Sure, it was produced for a while, but that remained very limited and I don't think there are many of these left now.

I second that on the ads - excellent and that style and real artwork are sorely missed nowadays.

There is a gen-av "scrapyard" over near Kansas City that I have had the opportunity to tour a few times - need to go and photograph all that I can at some point. When going thru there, a number of FH-1100s are there and every single one is there because of a hard landing and the tailboom failing at the join with the fuselage.
