As most of you know Mr. Robert C. "Bob" Chilton was chief engineering test pilot on the North American P-51 Mustang program and flew every version of them made. What ever became of this test pilot? I cannot find any information on him after the Mustang program ended; he joined NAA in Jan 41. HELP! -SP

Re: Robert C. "Bob" Chilton

Robert C. Chilton was employed by North American Aviation, Inc., as engineering test pilot, ultimately advancing to senior engineering test pilot. He flew no less than 79 different aircraft types in his career as a pilot.

From 1952 to 1957, Chilton, as Lt. Col. (US Air Force Reserve), was Chief of the F-84/F-105 Weapons System Project Office, Headquarters, Air Material Command, Wright-Patterson AFB.

He joined the Space Equipment Corporation in September 1961 as secretary and contracts administrator.
