Despite several searches, I found only one upgrade document on the RC-135V/W Rivet Joint. Due to its lack of popularity, finding useful material on this aircraft has been a challenging task. I would appreciate it if anyone could provide me with any relevant information, photographs, documents, or any other resources on the Rivet Joint.

I assume you have the latest edition of Dr Robert S Hopkins' KC-135 - More Than a Tanker?

I did not! Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I have found a PDF Copy and I'm currently giving it a read. Thank you.

Going back a bit to the earlier days of RC ops, here's some information on the towed antenna previously associated with Briar Patch:

Quality ELINT said:
In the radio frequencies below 1,000MHz, where some important Soviet radars operate, it proved impossible to produce good patterns from antennas mounted on the aircraft. To solve the problem at those frequencies a new phase of research was begun -- the development of aerodynamic antenna-carrying vehicles towed behind the aircraft.

The antennas mounted in these vehicles could be designed to produce a smooth cardioid pattern with one sharp null pointed towards the towing aircraft. This null eliminates interference from the aircraft, leaving patterns that are ideal for power measurements.

Document source:

The document also reveals that Briar Patch was targeted against the Hen House ABM EW radars.
