The video says "inert warhead", so the missile was not modified for hit-to-kill. First, removing the warhead is advised to improve kinematics. Second, a final pulse is necessary to achieve a velocity difference (vs target). Not always will a missile have the required energy to sufficiently damage/destroy a target with a simple hit.
