The RAF Historical Society (of which I have been a member for several years) holds regular seminars, mostly at Hendon, on topics of interest. The proceedings are then published in Journals. Typically, presentations are made by former or serving RAF personnel with personal experience of the subject, with occasional contributions from aviation historians and other specialists. I have learned far more about the subjects covered by these Journals than could ever be found in commercially published books.

PDF versions of the Journals are published on-line here: https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/research/default/raf-historical-society-journals.aspx The downside is that there is a long delay before the Journals become available on the website (the first 55 are available on-line, but the most recent one sent to members was No. 72). The upside is that the PDFs are FREE!!!

Those of you with an interest in aircraft armament might want to look at No. 45, which has some good articles ;)
