Can any member tell me please what code letters were used by Royal Canadian Air Force No. 405 Maritime Reconnaissance Squadron when it was flying Lancasters in the first half of the 1950s? No.404 Squadron for example used the letters 'AF'. I cannot find this anywhere. Many thanks indeed.
Best wishes to all.

A quick google reveals some confusing pictures:

No serials.

Partial view of what appear to be special serials one apparently "G <Roundel> G", another "? <Roundel>P"

Figure one on this page gives a derelict with the code VN959.

This page gives a painting of a 405 Squadron Lanc with code MN976

This page gives a pic of a 405 Squadron Lanc with code MN207.

This page references a 405 Squadron history which might be useful.

And the author of this site, dealing with RCAF serial numbers, rather than squadron codes, might be worth contacting. Seems a work in progress though.

Sorry not to have anything definitive but the last link might lead to something solid.

Hello all. finally got signed up, after finding my web site mentioned here.

Post war RCAF markings went through multiple distinct stages, and the Lancaster was around long enough to see several of them. More information than you probably want can be found at my buddy's web site, http://www.canmilair.com/schemes.htm
