Archibald did it again. Second article after my entry on suborbital refueling.
Ariane flight 36 miserable failure, February 22 1990.
Of cloth, earthquake and Murphy law...
Jeff Foust is a nice fellow, and it was a quick but fun writting. Bracing myself for round 3 and 4.
Related to ATM-B (3) and libration points (4).
 
This failure has been on my mind since 25 years when I red it in a science magazine for kids (Science et vie Junior) "le chiffon d'Ariane" and laughed like an idiot. The background of the failure however I gradually discovered it and my mind was just blown. The entire story is a monument of absurdness (Albert Camus would have loved it) and a tribute to Hanlon and Murphy laws.
