Project Caymus fuel tanks in Darwin for US military

Having physically visited and even having climbed those tanks and knowing some of those involved I would caution re the reporting here. This has been a beat up by the disgruntled, now sacked, past contractors.
 
OTOH not having building permits is just putting your entire project at risk and it sounds like they're relying on the NT government choosing not to enforce the law. If the government changes ....

I don't know how hardball Australia tends to play in such cases, but the UK equivalent can see contractors being told to demolish the entire project and reinstate the site to its state before they set foot on it.
