apologies, i know unidentified/unknown type postings are generally annoying, as they don't seem to fit into any main category, here are a few 'possible' Westland? designs for helicopter types ... ref. Napier Gazelle brochure illustration, note lower two 'proposed installation' helicopter designs ...

That last one looks like a crudely drawn Sea King. The RN had just ordered a batch from Westland a year prior, so that fits.

The five pre definition illustrations shown were for the B.E.A. specification, the final designs had to be submitted to B.E.A. in late 1952. The Bristol submission was likely to have been the Type 181 which was similar to the Type 173.

The Westland proposal didn’t have a name or number. It was a development of the basic layout of the W.81 but was quite different. The pre definition illustration above looks like the W.81. The design actually submitted to B.E.A. was the one shown in reply #43 on the Westminster thread here: https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/threads/westland-westminster.11931/page-2. The initial proposal had four Dart engines and A.U.W. of 39,000 lbs.

I’m not sure if the pre definition designs shown match the unknown designs in the Napier Gazelle brochure in the original post. As Napier also show the Wessex and Belvedere then I would think this significantly post dates the 1952 B.E.A specification and things had moved on. They maybe just hypothetical illustrations of possible configurations/applications.

ref. Flight, 27 May 1960, i dont know if this is a notional sketch or an actual illustration of a Westland twin engined helicopter project iv been unaware of ? It certainly has features of other Westland types of the period and the cockpit has a feel of the unidentified designs noted in post #1 above ?

The top sketch is of a Sikorsky/Westland Wessex.
The second sketch is of a Bristol Belvedere with Napier Gazelle power.
The third sketch is of a generic Sea King or Puma engine installation.
The bottom sketch is of a generic tandem rotor drive train ... CH-46 or CH-47.
