are these replacing the W-3s?

So, how do you get in and out of the cabin if there are missiles in the way?

There is a couple of feet (maybe 60 cm) between the side of the fuselage and the pylon/hardpoint. Also, it's unlikely that they will be carrying a heavy external armament and troops in the cabin at the same time.

If they are being used for troop carrier there will likely not be any weapons on the pylons. Indeed the pylons might be removed for the weight saving and easier access.
They didn't go for the S70i because Leonardo likely gave them a better offset deal. I would agree though that I thought S70i was the likely winner.

I don't think so - the AW149 is about the size of an UH-60, IIRC. Which brings up the question of why didn't they go for the S70i
Do you know if there are any plans for the W-3?
they seemed to be nice small light helicopters, but they are getting quite old
