Reading the article it seems that Asboth used a non hinged rotorblade design. Is that feasible? Or is that the reason his designs dissapeared?

Just read in the latest vertiflite issues : Boris Yur'ev used exactly such
a rotor in his designs and the 1-EA not only flew, but even achieved
an unofficial altitude record with 605m .

He was Asboth Oszkár (Oscar).
His family name was Asboth, so his names of helicopters are Asboth too!

here is a strange Asboth design.

It's a patent drawing. Compared to those other "flying bird cages", it's a very clean and elegant
design, I think.
But THAT site actually seems to be a gold mine ! It's a pity, that those pictures are very low res indeed,
but as it is run by an official German foundation, maybe there's a chance to get some help.
The basic website is made with creative artists in mind, but we all ARE artists, aren't we ?

Do the patents clarify what the end plates on the wings were intended for? My first guess was that they had control surfaces making use of the rotor wash, but I don't see any mechanisms.

In UK patent 432245, for an earlier design, they are described as 'stabilising surfaces' pivoting on a horizontal axes aligned longitudinally.

I've started a scratch-build model of AH4.
Not finilized yet.

He used external control surfaces to deflect air descending from the main rotors.
See the vertical control surfaces shown on the front of some of his designs.
A few other early helicopters tried those without success.

From the rear, to be correct. You can see the pilot's seat from backward and the steering wheel (this helicopter used wheels, not control sticks.)

The other picture shows maybe AH-1 or AH-2, an earlier version of Asboth's helicopters.
