The Grumman G-21. A career full of adventures, during the war and in the movies, immortalized by the TV series: Jake Cutter - The Golden Monkey Stories.Too often we get to know an airplane fortuitously through movies or TV and not through books. Originally built in 1937 at the request of wealthy businessmen to take to their Long Island or Cuban possessions, it has also been flown by the U.S. Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Marines - not to mention pre- and post-war U.S. allies - for utility, transportation, rescue, photography and even bombing and depth charges. This not only played the role of an adventurer's plane, the Grumman Goose actually flew in real-life adventures.Soldier of fortune Jake Cutter (Stephen Collins), assisted by his trusty alcoholic mechanic Corky (Jeff Mackay) and by his faithful one-eyed dog Jack, they must fight to save the American spy Sarah White (Caitlin O'Heaney) from various perils of the South Pacific before World War II.( ABC 1982-83) "Tales of the Golden Monkey.A fun show with Roddy McDowall owner of a French bar named "Bon Chance Loui" . the plane was the real star of the show. The series lasted only one season.
